Ideas for a research project on a fad diet?

I need to come up with a fad diet for a project and write a paper about it. I’d like it to be something slightly controversial and somewhat popular but nothing way too far fetched. Any Ideas?

    Google the maple syrup/lemon juice cleanse. I tried it, its gross, and I couldnt do it. But lots of celebs do it before an award show or something.

    What about Atkins or the low-carb craze? It’s something that no reasonable person can keep up forever… Or maybe veganism? That’s pretty fad right now, though not really a diet.

    that liquid where they drink liquid instead of foods
