I need to lose 30lbs in 7 months how best to do it? diet and excersise tips welcome! I’ve heard HIIT is good?

I hate running, but have a increasingly gaining weight over the past 3 years. I’m 5′3 and weigh 147lbs – unfortunatley most of it is around my midrift area so not great!

I’ve started going to the gym but I’m not sure what is the best approach or program to be on. I’ve heard HIIT is good but not sure? Does anyone have any food tips as well? I think i need to curtail my claorie intake to about 1600 calories a day -but any advice would be gladly welcome!

    That is not a difficult goal at all.

    Eat 3 balanced meals at 500 calories a piece

    Light Running 40-50 minutes, 2-3 times a week

    With that you’ll see the results slowly but surely. Thats what I did.

    Here are my suggestions:

    1) Have a healthy and balanced permanent diet: dark green vegetables, fresh fruits, whole wheat and whole grain products, non-fat dairy products, fish, poultry breast, lean red meat, egg white.

    You should cut out all sugar, soda, non-whole grain products and saturated fats: These aliments should only be a reward for achieving a goal, not a habit!

    Here is a link where you can read about calories in food:

    2) Start exercising

    Aerobic and weight training will raise your metabolic rate. In result, your body will burn more calories.

    * aerobic exercising

    3 times per week, conduct an exercise that keeps your heart rate elevated for at least 30-45 minutes (ex: walking, running, cycling, swimming, aerobics …)
    Check out following site for more details about good exercise choices to lose weight:

    * weight training

    Alternate days of aerobics with weight training. You will build muscles that will burn more calories, even when at rest!

    Good luck!

    I lost 44 lbs in 7 months..I’m 5′3 and started at 167.
    Divide your weight (in pounds) in half. Drink that many ozs of water a day.
    (If you weigh 150 lbs, drink 75 oz of water a day.)
    It takes 3500 calories to gain (or – 3500 to lose) a pound of weight. Eat 500 calories less a day to lose 1 lb a week.
    The water keeps you feeling full.
    A dash of sea salt on your food helps the metabolism work better.
    I restricted my calories to 900 a day and lost 44 lbs in 7 months.
    I ate sunny side up egg on toast with OJ for breakfast,
    and Lean Cuisines or Healthy Choice meals for dinner (under 300 calories for dinner.) I had 1 hostess cupcake as a late night snack each night. The weight nearly melted off. Was the easiest diet I ever did. Eight months since then I’ve only gained 3 lbs. – I still eat the dinners but have snacks on occasion. I rarely exercised except for doing 10 crunches a night.
    I lost the first 10 lbs by only doing the water drinking part.
    (I drank 85 oz of water a day without restricting the calories.. in fact I was still eating a snickers a day.)
    I’ve since had tests that show I’m in excellent health.
    *I am not a doctor. Always consult your physician before undertaking a new dietary regiment.

    You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn’t think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

    If you check out the South Beach diet there are some great pointers!
    Don’t eat sugar, stay away from refine flour products, and eat small meals often.
