Sorry, your mother is right. You’re looking at the quick fix, your mother is looking at your whole life. Sure, the fad diets work short term. If you really want to lose weight fast, just don’t eat for a few days and you’ll lose weight all right. Don’t drink anything for a couple of days and you’ll lose weight too. But you can’t keep doing that and stay healthy. If you want to stay healthy and at a good weight, you have to eat a balanced diet of the right amount of food and get some exercise. The quick fixes often bounce back at you. If you eat nothing but apples and yogurt for 3 days, chances are that by the end of those 3 days you’ll be sick of them, so the first thing you do when you come off the diet is go have a hot fudge sundae, or a half a loaf of bread, and there goes your lost weight.

Walking is barely a way to lose weight. You have to jog, run sweat. This is what burns major calories. Also eating a good healthy, no grease no processed food diet will do wonders while keeping you healthy.

Basically, your "heathy" diet and workout was completely off.

edit, because walking hardly burns any calories..
you should run or do intervals, and lift some weights, your mom doesn’t know much

The fad diets will have you loosing up to 75% fluid and muscle loss not fat loss. You certainly weigh less and everyone thinks that it is weight loss. Well it is weight loss by sabotaging muscle tissue. I can guarantee though that it won’t be much fat loss. You can never gain muscle tissue back again unless you do weight resistance training and even then it can take about 12 months to replace.
