Any tips for people on South Beach Diet?
I’ve NEVER dieted before. So this is kind of tricky for me, but I plan on sticking to this! I’m on week one. Any suggestions on meals or snacks other than cheese and nuts like I was told? Or any other info or tips would be appreciated!

Yes, I’ve done South Beach. The best thing is to get the South Beach Cookbooks from your local library and use them during the first phase. You then get an idea and could use other cookbooks or make your own adjustments to recipes for the following phases. The first two weeks are the hardest, and then it get’s a little easier as you can add some things, and you stay there until you lose your weight then move to phase 3 and live there for the rest of your life. So…buy or borrow the cookbooks is the best thing to help you stick with it.
BTW- Over the last couple of years I’ve sort of changed how I feel about South Beach…I’ve found I’ve felt even better cutting out my dairy and cutting out beef and pork. That’s just me but I felt those things hindered my weight loss and made me feel sluggish. It also has really affected my skin. My skin is much more clear. Ultimately you have to do what works for you.

The South Beach diet is at its best when you are dining out. It is very simple to choose a healthy dinner from almost any menu. I disagree with Dr. Agatston on carbohydrates though. They are a necessary component of any diet. The best books I have read on nutrition all say that carbohydrates help treat cancer, aid you with vitamins and minerals, and fruit and veggies are necessary for complete nutrition. I’d find myself another diet. Try this website:http://myfoodpyramid.gov
